What are the similarities and differences between socialism and fascism?

No country declares itself as a fascist nation. Fascism is a result rather than an intentional policy. Fascists are not necessarily socialist or communist. When a country ends up in having a single party permanently in power and dictating everything it results in fascism. The communist party is just one example. Nazis were another example. And they fought each other.
